Reflecting

Just when I thought it was order I find out we have one more project to do -_-. Project four is a reflective essay that we had to do which wasn't to hard to write although I struggled with making it long enough. It was good to write a paper reflecting on how this writing helped me to become a better writer although I know I have a ways to go for it to be where it needs to be.

Winding Down...

Today was our last day of class :(. I really enjoyed this class and I don't regret the fact that I had to bother my teacher so much just to get in it. Today we took a fan fiction and mixed with twilight which was really fun to do. It made for a really interesting story.

Fan Fiction

While reading dracula in and out of class I have become very intrigued by it. It really is in my opinion a page turner. In class today we  had the chance to write a fan fiction on how we think the story ends. Usually im not a fan of writing but this was actually fun to write. Although my endings weren't exactly accurate.

Dracula

We have started to read Dracula in class now. I like that we have group discussions about it because it helps me to understand what it happening within the book after I read it at home. I find Dracula to be very interesting

Vampires in the 21st Century: From Scary to Sexy

We finally wrapped up our project three in class and finished our project named Vampires in the 21st Century: From Scary to Sexy. We presented our projects in front of the classroom and I found the other projects to be interesting as well. I learned a lot that I did not know about vampires.

Project 3

Today in class we recieved our project three. We had to get into groups with other people. Although I have no problems working with people I know how that can sometimes turn out for the worse.  hope that we all come together so that we can get an A. The topic we ended up choosing was Vampires in the 21st century.

Project Two

Currently in class we are working on project two... in which we have to write comparing a novel to the Twilight Saga... Im doing the Twilight Saga compared to Northanger Abbey. The social issue i am doing is The Role of Women. I am comparing is Bella is weaker in Twilight compared to Catherine in Northanger Abbey. I thought it would be easier to do this project compared to project one but i am still having trouble... Oh well ill do my best.

Byron's The Giaour

So now we are reading The Giaour which is actually quite confusing for me to read. Luckily my teacher wen through the poem step by step to explain it to me because otherwise I would have been lost beyond belief. In the end it seems that the  main in this story sticks to his guns amd goes after what he wants. The other day my teacher asked if we would consider him a hero and I say no I just consider him to be persistent and very adament which can be comended but its not really hero like in my book.

The Vampyre

In class we had to read  "The Vampyre" by John Polidori. The vampire in this story is definitely different from the vampires in twilight yet it is the same. The vampire has the same features that you would expect a vampire to have but its personality is a litte different. I think that the vampire presented in this story would be considered a "bad" vampire compared to the heroe vampires in twilight.

Project 1

In class we currently have a project where we have to pretend that we are an editor to a newspaper and we have to analyze an article then kind of give our own personal opinion of it. I am doing “The Harsh Bigotry of Twilight-Haters” by Erika Christakis . I actually had a hard time writing the paper though I did try. Im not good with papers like this. Hopefully the paper was decent.

Northanger Abbey

In class we are currently readin Northanger Abbey. I find the book to be quite interesting when I can understand the language of it. My professor is showing the movie in class which is helping me to understand a tad bit better.

Reviewing,Revising and editing

Review,Revise, Edit are terms that I have always thoought of as the same thing when it comes to academic papers. When I wrote papers in highschool I would just write read over it then have one of my parents read it over it. I seldom have a friend read over it unless I know that they are bomb writers. My courses of action have changed in college because i'm not the best writer I sometimes like to go to the quality writing center to have them help me.

Paragraphs

"I'd never given much thought to how I would die - though I'd had reason enough in the last few months - but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this.I stared without breathing across the long room, into the dark eyes of the hunter, and he looked pleasantly back at me."

This  first paragraph from the preface in twilight is effective because it draws the readers in and they instantly want to know more about what she is saying so they continue to read to find out more. Some situations I have been in where the topic sentence should not be at the beginning of the paragraph was when I wrote an persuasive paper. I thought it was better to put a sentence that would draw the reader in rather than giving the topic sentence first hand.

Writing Technique

Before I write something I usually like to sit around and think hard about I would like to write. Then I usually jot random stuff down that I could put in my paper. Then I go to the computer and start typing and typing until something starts to make sense. I definitely have a problem with procrastination the main reason for me is because well...im kind of lazy. So ill end up waiting until the last minute. Sometimes for me though this works and paper doesn't turn out half bad.

Writing Bleh

When I first came into this class I did not think I was ready at all. I'm not very good at writing. I can sit at the computer all day and not come up with anything and when I do it usually sucks. I hope this class can help me out with that because I have 3 1/2 years writing ahead of me.
